My painting style is becoming more coarse, I think because I am seeing something quite powerful in the way Roualt built up his paintings. They seem to be scrubbed into existence with worn out brushes over a long period of time. You can see the evolution in layer upon layer of roughly applied paint. I am using worn out brushes with no fine points and scrubbing the paint on. This opens the way for accident and keeps the painting open. Wasn’t sure I could turn this painting around but I think its finished.
