How many abstract artists (I hate that term) work small? I can’t think of many, and for good reason. My immediate thoughts on starting this new painting is that it needs to be much bigger, it could go 2 metres square. There are some beautiful subtle shapes and colour effects in this photo as it is October and the autumn colours are just starting to show. I like this composition, it shows some farm buildings in the foreground which are crowded out by a forest on a hill directly behind them. I’m going to use this painting as a trial run for a bigger painting later.
